Maeve Ceramic Poem

In the cocoon of firelight

we don’t speak, just listen

dazzled by the flames

cracking and licking the air

dancing between us

distorting my vision.

But it’s okay, because I have committed

to memory the view

and the sound

and the feeling

of you being near.
