Pie is one of those dishes that supports togetherness in both the making and the sharing a slice. It is a slow process- crafted by hand (much like ceramics). Pie making celebrates seasonal produce, allowing for the bounty of your garden or those little farm stand to shine in all their glory. Here is a place where family recipes like "Grandma Wendy's Famous Coconut Cream Pie" with writing on the side with instructions like "reduce the amount of sugar to a scant 1/2 cup and add a heaping scoop of strawberry jam with an handful of extra strawberries ."
As we approach summer gatherings and summer produce join Krista for an evening hand crafting your own ceramic pie dish. This workshop will be kept small, and open to all- no formal ceramic training is necessary. Krista will take good care of you as she walks you through the process of designing a hand built dish that feels like your style and will be just the thing you choose to make and serve your Aunt Kim's Strawberry Rhubarb pie.
WORKSHOP DATE:
Friday, May 19th 7-9pm at Krista's Studio in North Mesa (exact address will be sent to you in a confirmation email along with more details for the evening).
The workshop is capped at 12 people.
All materials for your pie dish and our supper together will be included in the ticket price. The workshop listing will close the night before (Thursday the 18th at 10 pm) so ceramic materials can be prepared, please sign up early to ensure your spot is reserved.
You will design and build your dish during our two hour workshop and Krista will care for the pieces as she fires and glazes them. You will be able to pick up your dish in 2-3 weeks after the workshop, you will be notified when the pieces have finished the firing process and are ready for picking up back at Krista's studio. The address will be given to you both after you check out reserving your spot and when you are notified that your pie plate is ready. After the pieces are fired they are food safe, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
We will have a gentle ending time where we clear our creations, light some candles and enjoy together savory quiche pies, a lite salad, and ice cream with Krista's mom's strawberry rhubarb compote.
All workshop materials and our menu made in collaboration with Breann Bowman of Le Butter are included in the ticket price. As materials must be prepared and ordered ahead of the workshop the ticket is nonrefundable but you can receive credit towards a future workshop or to use as credit toward the shop.
