Bethlehem in Blue
A hand-shaped Nativity reimagined in blue porcelain, each figure sculpted with care and brushed with hand-painted gold lusters. A quiet gathering of sacred symbols from that holy night—crafted to become a holy heirloom.
The Story
Much is made of the lamb,
but I keep returning to the donkey—
Mary steady upon its back.
There is tenderness in its quiet devotion,
the way it carried her with no need for praise—
a small echo of the Savior who would
carry us the same way
when our own strength fails.
The stable was humble,
yet it opened its doors to wonder,
becoming the first home of holiness.
From my desert home, a borrowed symbol:
a saguaro, tall and steadfast,
a sentinel watching over this quiet scene—
like Joseph over the sweet babe.
Mother Mary—rooted and radiant—
her arms open like branches gathering light.
A place of rest, ancient wisdom, and shelter.
And the Holy Child appears as a sunburst,
light spilling softly across the dark,
the promised hope of us all.
